Haight Swaps Seats

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SMITH, NV (April 5, 2008) – It was announced that effective immediately Howard Haight will take over the driving chores in Bill Botelho's Keith Black/Dart powered Top Fuel dragster. Tuner, Bill Patterson is delighted with the announcement and stated, "To have a driver of Howard's caliber will be a great asset to our team. He brings a wealth of experience and will be able to give us the feedback we need to make this late model hemi live up to its potential."

Haight has been driving fuel cars for some 38 years and has been in the seat of Butch Blair's "Fugowie" NTF car for the last several seasons. He has racked up five major wins in the last 3 years including the Goodguys 46th March Meet in 2005.

"I think this will be a win win deal for myself and Bill." said Haight. "Without elaborating, it was time for me to make a change and when this opportunity came up I didn't have to think long to say yes".

Haight will get acquainted with the car on April 13th at Speedworld Dragstrip in Wittman, Az and compete for the first time at the 38th Annual Ignitor Opener at Boise April
24 - 27.

John Shoemaker - RIP

To help preserve NHRA's rich history and tradition while capitalizing on the success of nostalgia drag racing competition, NHRA has formed the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series that will crown year-end points champions in 14 categories.

“This new series is an exciting step that will appeal to drag racing fans young and old,” said Peter Clifford, NHRA executive vice president and general manager. “It's a great way to introduce the younger generation to the history of our sport and give fans young and old a glimpse of racing the way it used to be.”

The NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series will kick off with the famed March Meet in Bakersfield, Calif., March 7-9 and conclude Oct. 10-12 at the California Hot Rod Reunion presented by Automobile Club of Southern California back at Bakersfield's Auto Club Famoso Raceway.
